Designed to address the complex signal processing
challenges of HD, the Densité Series modular interfaces are based on a single
3G platform with advanced audio capabilities. In addition to high quality
processing, the range offers sophisticated control and monitoring, as well as
space efficiency, field upgradeability, and minimal spares requirements. View all products listing.

Future-proof, flexible platform
The Densité Series is a future-proof, 3G capable platform which is available,
in 3RU and 2RU sizes. Both frames share the same advanced control and
monitoring features, and the ability to combine multiple formats and
functions in one frame. All the 2RU cards can fit in the 3RU frame to
minimize the number of frames required. The frames maintain a copy of the
configuration of every card in every slot. If a card fails and is replaced by
a cold spare, the frame pushes the saved configuration to the new card,
allowing it to power up correctly without operator intervention.

Outstanding
5.1 audio capabilities
The Densité Series is uniquely capable of addressing the challenges of 5.1
audio for HD. A single DAP audio processor can perform stereo to 5.1 Upmixing
with Linear Acoustic UpMAXTM technology, as well as Dolby E/AC-3
encoding/decoding, and 5.1 to stereo downmixing. It can also provide audio to
video delay, and loudness measurement and control. Importantly, there is
perfect video and audio synchronization between the DAP audio processor and
an associated video processing card.

High quality up/down/cross conversion
The Densité Series offers the highest quality conversion. The top of the
range XVP-1801
Up/Down/Cross converter offers superior conversion quality at both 50 and
59.94Hz, due to multiple processing technologies, including better detail
enhancement; more effective 3:2, 5:5, and 2:2 detection; pixel-based
de-interlacing; video over film support; and advanced motion adaptive de-interlacing
and anti-ringing.

Improved presentation
To ensure that upconverted or downconverted television is presented in the
correct aspect ratio when aired, the XVP modules support AFD. This provides
automatic aspect ratio control using embedded control commands, and this
prevents on-air aspect ratio errors such as the postage stamp effect.
To further improve the presentation of upconverted or downconverted
television, the XVP family of interfaces offers a background keying
capability, which allows side panels, or top and bottom panels, to be filled
with video or graphics.

Field-upgradeable functionality
The XVP cards include an upconverter, a downconverter, an SD ARC, and a HD/SD
frame sync; all with the same hardware as the top of the range, Up/Down/Cross
converter. The reduced functionality cards can be upgraded in the field to
the full Up/Down/Cross conversion specification if extra capabilities are
required. This adds flexibility, future-proofs the hardware investment, and
simplifies spares requirements.

Incoming feed decoding with rich features
Two variants of Integrated Receiver Decoder (IRD) modules are now available
which offer rich functionality for incoming feed applications.
The IRD-3801
is an HD/SD MPEG 2/4 decoder with ASI and GigE IP inputs, and the IRD-3811 is an
HD/SD MPEG 2/4 receiver/decoder with ASI and RF inputs. Advanced features
include down conversion on the output, Dolby AC-3 decoding, and compressed
domain probing.

Versatile HD/SD media player
The new HMP card is a highly versatile media player with dual HD/SD outputs,
which is based on a high quality JPEG-2000 decoder. Video is stored using
interchangeable Compact Flash for a high level of robustness. The media
player is ideal for many different applications, such as storing apology
sequences and animated backgrounds, and playing out promo clips.

|
Macro-block detection
The HCP-1801
probe can now perform affordable and reliable macro-block detection in HD and
SD signals, which commonly results from MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 decoding. Using a
unique algorithm, the HCP-1801 performs a pixel-by-pixel, frame-by-frame
analysis of the video signal, detecting the presence and measuring the
severity of image macro-blocks.

Advanced control and monitoring
The Densité range offers unsurpassed remote control and monitoring
capabilities over IP, with control by the iControl GUI and by an easy to use
‘hard‘ panel. A key feature of many Densité Series modules is the
built-in streaming video and audio level meter support, which allows the
video to be evaluated remotely over IP.

END-TO-END, HIGH PERFORMANCE
PROCESSING WITH DENSITÉ
Miranda’s Densité Series provides
the breadth and depth of capabilities needed for interfacing across a complex
hybrid HD/SD facility. In this example, Densité Series modules are used to
normalize feeds to suit the HD and SD playout chains.
